One Door North

North Park

A locally sourced meal with a camping theme

The SD Experience

Restaurant owners Fred and Tammy Piehl love the outdoors and love to be close to nature, so they decided to open a camping themed restaurant with locally sourced and sustainable ingredients in North Park - just one door north of their other restaurant, the Smoking Goat.  From the moment you walk in, you'll feel like you've stepped into an elegant campsite.  But chances are you've never gone camping and eaten a meal as good as this.  There are tents that can be reserved for large parties to get that added feeling like you've left the city for nature.

For Dinner

One Door North is open for brunch on the weekends and dinner seven days a week.  The dinner menu includes many items you might find on a camping trip, but also a few others.  On our most recent visit we started with the grilled octopus which was outstanding.  It was served with chorizo aioli, avocado crema, granny smith apples, smoked almonds and arugula.  The octopus itself was thick and grilled to perfection.  This certainly is a step above the typical fried calamari. For dinner I ordered the trout.  It was grilled and topped with a very tasty chimichurri sauce that made the dish standout.  It was served with arugula, saffron couscous, roasted baby carrots and asparagus.  Nick ordered the organic beet salad and added steak for a more hearty meal. The salad included arugula (they seem to serve a lot of arugula here), lemon greek yogurt, avocado, and candied pistachios.

For Drinks

The first time we came to One Door North, it was soon after they opened and they had not received their liquor license yet, so I was pleased on our recent visit to see they now have a great cocktail menu.  They have several seasonal offerings as well as some classics.  I had the Sequoia which was bourbon, cyan, green chartreuse and cherry liquor with an aperol dusted rim and a flamed orange peel.  Nick had the "Choose Your Knees" where you choose your own spirit to go with ginger, lemon and sugar. He choose Woodford bourbon.

For Dessert

Of course it wouldn't be a camping adventure without s'mores would it?  For desert, One Door North offers a make your own s'mores platter where they bring you the Hershey's chocolate bars, graham crackers, and vanilla marshmallows.
